If you are new to having a website, the Internet can be a minefield of confusing terminology. There is so much information available that it can be overwhelming when you don’t know where to start. Believe me, I’ve been there myself when I was first starting out in the online world. I needed hand-holding and certain things needed explaining to me a few times before they eventually sunk in.

I wanted to create a series of short blog posts that will help to explain some of the basic concepts around having a website. These concepts are essential for you to know and understand as this terminology is very important when you want to put a website onto the Internet for the very first time. By understanding the terminology used you will have a better grasp of how to discuss your needs and requirements with your web designer, or indeed be able to tackle creating your own website if you a true DIYer.

A list of the blog posts in our Website Basics for Beginners series are shown below:

Online Marketer. WordPress Trainer. Project & Office Manager. Social Media Advisor. Marketing Director. Co-founder of The SeedMill. With an almost obsessive need to be neat, tidy, organised and structured, I am responsible for ensuring that all the Is are dotted and the Ts are crossed. Having worked in a variety of roles in a wide selection of sectors, from large public organisations to local SMEs, I have a deep understanding of how different businesses operate and the struggles that they face. Passionate about learning new things, and sharing this knowledge, I thoroughly enjoy helping others succeed and empowering them to help themselves. I firmly believe that knowledge is the key to a successful future. Random fact: I love the beach but I hate swimming in the sea.
