Alert SOM are the main provider of driving lessons in Sheerness Kent. Having had a very old and tired website presence, The SeedMill were approached to produce a fresh web design and build for Alert SOM that presented their friendly, professional and family business approach to their market.
Having already heard of WordPress and being comfortable with their understanding of that platform, Alert SOM chose to use the popular CMS platform to manage their website. Having heard about some of the projects The SeedMill had already worked upon with WordPress, the ethical approach provided by The SeedMill appealed to Alert SOM and was a large influence in their selection process of which web design company to work with.
Alert SOM didn’t have any control of their previous website (with no content management system being used), nor their domains or hosting. This left them at the mercy of their previous website supplier and feeling as though they had very little influence over the direction of their online presence. Resolving this became a main focus for The SeedMill in effort to give Alert SOM some longevity with their website presence whereby the business could more easily determine their direction. As added value support The SeedMill also installed Google Analytics for the business and provided training on how to use WordPress as a CMS. Again, all of this was designed to increase the level of control the business had over their website presence.
The SeedMill built a custom WordPress theme for Alert SOM and consulted on an optimal hosting setup that allowed the business to take back control of their digital assets (previously scattered through separate providers and payment gateways). The custom WordPress theme was built to use WordPress without any unnecessary plugins and towards enhancing security which the business could then manage for themselves going forward. The basic tools within WordPress were simply enhanced with the theme to make the content management process as comfortable as possible.
